Hadith #1

Narrated Abu Ayyash: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: If anyone says in the morning: “There is no god but Allah alone Who has no partner; to Him belong the dominions, to Him praise is due, and He is Omnipotent,” he will have a reward equivalent to that for setting free a slave from among the descendants of Isma’il.

He will have ten good deeds recorded for him, ten evil deeds deducted from him, he will be advanced ten degrees and will be guarded against the Devil till the evening. If he says them in the evening, he will have a similar recompense till the morning.

The version of Hammad says: A man saw the Messenger of Allah (SAW) in a dream and said: Messenger of Allah! AbuAyyash is relating such and such on your authority.

He said: Abu Ayyash has spoken the truth.

Abu Dawud said: Isma’il b. Ja’far, Musa al-Zim’i and ‘Adb Allah b. Ja’far transmitted it from Suhail, from his father on the authority of Ibn ‘A’ish.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “If one says one-hundred times in one day: “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent)”,

one will get the reward of manumitting ten slaves, and one-hundred good deeds will be written in his account, and one-hundred bad deeds will be wiped off or erased from his account, and on that day he will be protected from the morning till evening from Satan, and nobody will be superior to him except one who has done more than that which he has done.”

Benefits Of Reciting La Ilaha Illallah

He who utters Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareekallah, lahul-Mulk, walahul-hamd wahuwa ‘alaa kulli shay-in Qadeer hundred times in a day, will attain these five benefits:

• Firstly, a reward equivalent to that of emancipating ten slaves;
• Secondly, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his credit;
• Thirdly, a hundred of his sins will be blotted out from his scroll;
• Fourthly, he will be safeguarded against the devil; and
• Fifthly, no one will exceed him in doing more excellent good deeds except for someone who did more than what he has done.

You will earn these five virtues if you say, Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareekallah, lahul-Mulk, walahu l-hamd wahuwa ‘alaa kulli shay-in Qadeer, a hundred times.

Conditions Of La Ilaha Illallah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu

Acceptance (Qabul):

If a person has knowledge of and certainty in the shahadah, this must be followed by acceptance, with the tongue and heart, of whatever that shahadah implies.

Whoever refuses to accept the shahadah and its implications, even if he knows that it is true and certain about its truth, then he is a disbeliever. This refusal to accept is sometimes due to pride, envy or other reasons. In any case, the shahadah is not a true shahadah without its unconditional acceptance.

Submission (Inqiyad):

This implies the actual physical enactment with our deeds of our shahadah. In fact, this is one of the main meanings of the word Islam itself, “the submission to the will and commands of Allah.”

Truthfulness (Sidq):

As opposed to hypocrisy and dishonesty. This means that when we say the shahadah, we are saying it honestly.

Sincerity (Ikhlas):

That is, when we make the shahadah, we must do so solely for the sake of Allah. We must not do it for any other reason. And we must not do it for anyone else’s sake.

Love (Mahabbah):

That is, the believer loves this shahadah, he loves in accordance with the shahadah, he loves the implications and requirements of the shahadah and he loves those who act and strive for the sake of this shahadah.
