The Mortality of Everything
Embracing the Transience of Life
Everything is mortal, destined to fade away,
No matter how we try, we cannot make them stay,
The things we're running after,
they'll slip through our grasp,
And someone else will claim them, long after we've passed.
The pain of this truth, it cuts deep to the bone,
It hurts more than dying, to know we're not alone,
That all our struggles, all our striving and strife,
Will be for naught, in the grand scheme of life.
The possessions we hold dear,
they're just temporary things,
They'll outlive us for a while, but they too have wings,
And they'll fly away, to another owner's care,
Leaving us with memories, and nothing to spare.
But perhaps this is a lesson, that we need to learn,
To let go of attachments, and to no longer yearn,
For things that won't last, for things that won't stay,
To find peace in the moment, and live for today.
For everything is mortal, and everything will end,
Our lives, our loves, our possessions, they'll all transcend,
But the memories we make, the love that we share,
Will live on forever, in the hearts that we've touched and cared.
