What is IT help desk services?

Anyways let me try to answer it positively.

There will always be a need for HELP DESKS! People always need HELP to solve their problems.

IT Service Help Desk is a general help desk in IT where users approach their technical hardware and software problems in your laptops, desktops, mobiles, Application, networks, the Internet, hardware, and peripherals including the operating system.

In a help desk role, you can get in-depth, real-world knowledge of these technologies, with little or no work experience a particularly valuable commodity for workers. The comprehensive risk you have the greatest passion for Technologies Building your hard skills, but also to determine not only allows. Soft skills development. There are well-developed technical skills are required for any IT professional, no doubt, but they are all you need to make a successful career does not mean. Increasingly, managers such communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities as strong interpersonal skills, which are looking for employees. These so-called soft skills can be learned at the Help Desk.

The best thing about playing a help desk is that it is often possible to take advantage of the skills and experience to secure a high-level position is obtained there. Many networks and web software engineers start their IT career from the IT help desk as the first entry-level. In addition, there are many opportunities for advancement within the Help Desk.

A help desk with a large number of technologies, at least in a broad sense, professionals need to be aware of. You grow up with computers or unofficial tech gurus among your friends, the help desk is a place to start your IT career in the right way.

IT service help desk consists of minimum from one IT Help desk technician to a numbers depends on the size of an organization or the products they are offering, Actually, it varies from company to company. The person at the help desk is a person having extensive technical knowledge. So, A help desk is established to meet the most important need of the end-user.

MY Journey in IT Career Path:

I started my journey in IT as my first professional career as IT Technician at an international university back in January 2011. Now Alhamdulillah I have more than ten years of experience in IT help services.

My academic background in Telecommunication. I have done three-year professional diplomas in Telecommunication and I have more than one year of experience in optical fiber cable before IT Technician. I have done two different technologies engineering which is a bachelor of technology in electrical and a Bachelor of sciences in computer science. I also have two professional certifications in Microsoft Server and Office 365.

IT Technician career was my first professional career in IT. I have learned many things and also made many mistakes during this journey. Obviously, you can’t learn everything at a fine-grained level but learn the above at a technical level well enough that you would be able to give a five or ten-minute to fix the problems if you had to.

I did not have experience and any kind of knowledge about Information technology stuff. Even I had called my friends to fix any kind of problems with my computer before the job.

I have done technical support for many years. It is not for everyone. There are few people who can last 2 years, fewer who can last past 5 years, and a tiny number who last longer than that. It is just a select skill set that not everyone is cut out for, or enjoys.

In my honest opinion, there will never be an end to Helpdesk jobs. I would strongly recommend you to take up the Tech Support job.

I learned some very important life lessons from my first professional job as IT Technician.

  • People respect you far more for admitting you don’t know something or are uncertain of your skills than they do if you claim you’re a rock star and wind up failing.
  • Start with the basics get to know everybody and make sure people will remember you
  • Try to learn different new technologies as much as you can.
  • The point at which you grow, personally and professionally, is a point that lies outside of your comfort zone. Get into the habit of leaving your comfort zone, and that zone will expand.
  • Try to create and deploy labs
  • Always make note of what you learn if you have time then it's better to write a post on it and share it on medium and other blog sites.
  • Learn as much as you can. Keep learning No matter how tangential your primary duties are, the more you understand who and what you support makes you better.

Final Thoughts:

IT is a fast-changing field where advancement is very quick so one has to update his technical capabilities as per advancement. IT there are many careers say for an example as a technician is also it. An IT Helpdesk technician is a one-stop point of contact that provides centralized information and support management service to handle a company’s internal or external queries.

In the world of telecom where I have been working for over ten years, I see that if users are confused about how to navigate through screens and choose options, they end up making many more calls to the help desk.

There are many here sharing the career advice, choose which is good. But exercise daily, spend an hour or at least half or worse case 5 to 15 mins in a day for yourself.

IT Helpdesk technicians need to hone their soft skills and managerial aptitude. As one goes higher in the hierarchy, these skills are required more than technical skills. So it’s wise to enroll in a management program, or a behavior improvement or team building training course.

A career evolves over a period of time, one should define, plan and stick to develop in a specific career to become an Expert. Select a domain and develop the Core, Support, Leadership, and Behavioral that are key to that domain. Don’t switch jobs just for the monetary rewards.

We have the tech to make most things accessible to most people. But different kinds of accessibility are required for different people and so they will consistently mismatch.

In my perspective, the person must be able to talk clearly, know the language, and familiar with all the terminologies that are used in the IT business. Being a good listener will be very helpful.

Learn as much as you can. Keep learning No matter how tangential your primary duties are, the more you understand who and what you support makes you better.

I hope these lines are OK for you to understand.

I hope you will enjoy it and this post helps you to find the right way to achieve your dreams.
